Artist Rec of the Week

Hojean performing while on tour

Late night drives, hanging out with friends (and maybe lovers), watching the sunset: this is the sound of Hojean. Relaxing, chill, and upbeat simultaneously, Hojean has catchy beats and incredibly high notes (seriously, I can barely sing along sometimes) that makes perfect songs to listen to as you drive under the city lights.

To be honest, I have no idea how I found Hojean or when I started to listen to him, but when I saw he was performing at The Observatory in Santa Ana I knew I had to be there. Buying those concert tickets was one of the best decisions I’ve made (really I can say that for every concert ticket I’ve bought but…). Seeing an artist perform in a small venue, such as The Observatory is an intimate experience and one you’ll never forget. The excitement is electric and addictive, something shared with larger performers and venues but distinctive at a small venue. Nonetheless, Hojean was a truly amazing performer, hitting the high notes even with a sore throat.

10/10 would recommend listening to his music and seeing him live if you ever get the chance.

My Favorite Songs:

  1. Lock Me In: This one is a sensual one and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to it (SO good).

  2. 9 to 5: This is a true driving song, in essence. Maybe because it’s called 9 to 5

  3. You Ain’t Gotta: One of his more popular songs, it has a beat that you just want to nod along to.

  4. Easily: The song that really got me listening to Hojean, easily (hahaha).

  5. Cherie: A good song to listen to when you need to slow down a bit.

Hojean's latest EP "Cherie"

Those are some of my favorite songs, but I also think it’s worth mentioning that I’m a beat before lyrics kinda gal so I don’t pay close attention to what's being said.

Fun Fact: Hojean’s most recent EP, “Cherie,” was completely self-produced, down to the album cover.

Stay tuned for more artists and song recs!

Hint for next week: Is Lisa a Tomboy?
